We welcome you, to South Africa, and see big 5 wildlife animals. You can enjoy walking trails in the Kruger National Park, where the Big Five roam freely. The big five includes lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants and rhinoceros but there are plenty of other mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and sealife to discover. But do not worry, if you don’t want to walk amongst these critters, the ordinary way of seeing them in their natural habitat is from the comfort and safety of an open safari vehicle or a boat.
Once the safari box has been checked off, you can go taste extraordinary food and award winning wines in the world renowned Cape Winelands around Cape Town. If you love wine you can stay here forever and never get bored. 148 wine farms adorn the vine-covered landscape, many of them historical farms with achingly beautiful Cape Dutch manors houses, gardens, hotels, and fine-dining restaurants. You can also venture further afield to other wine regions. There are currently some 560 wineries and 4 400 primary producers of vineyards in the Western Cape Province, divided into four main regions: The Breede River Valley, The Little Karoo, Coastal and Olifants River. The Western Cape is truly a wine lover’s paradise.
Then there is of course Cape Town which is an incredible city. First, there is the natural beauty. It sits in the “bowl” of Table Mountain and this setting combined with its 370 year modern history and mix of cosmopolitan culture and flavor will keep you wanting more. It is impossible to get enough of this bustling harbor town. Whether you are into arts and crafts markets, or shopping for fashion, fine dining restaurants or roadside eateries, a trip up Table Mountain or swimming with seals, Cape Town has all the attractions!
Beaches and the ocean
With a coastline stretching more than 3000 km (1865 mi), wrapping around four of our nine provinces and set between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, South Africa has beaches and ocean life that is truly spectacular. The longest whitesand beach in the southern hemisphere curls away from Struisbaai at Cape Agulhas and the infamous sardine run takes place on the Wild Coast every year in July. Swim with dolphins or seals, scuba dive to see shoals of Hammerhead Sharks or get close to Southern Right Whales at one of the best land-based whale sighting locations on the planet in Hermanus.
